Eligibility Criteria

There are Diploma and Postgraduate degrees in Ophthalmic Technology offered by around 160 optometric schools in India and worldwide. 

Ophthalmic Assistant 

If you plan to become an Ophthalmic Assistant, you can opt for a 2-year diploma course as an Optician Assistant and the requirements for this diploma course are –

Ophthalmic Technician or Optometrist

If you are planning to become an Ophthalmic Technician or Optometrist, you can opt for a 4-year full-time undergraduate course in Bachelor of Clinical Optometry or Optometry or BSc Optometry or B.Sc Hons in Optometry and Ophthalmic Technique.

Aspiring candidates must have passed 10+2 exams in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with Biology or Mathematics as electives with at least 45% to 50% marks and passed the recognized institution or commission. 

Students with a bachelor’s degree can pursue further studies, like a Master of Optometry or Integrated Master of Science in Optometry and Vision Science. The duration of this course is 5-6 years.
