Changes in JEE Main 2023 Introduced

Jee Main Rank vs Marks: Normalisation Process

Before delving through the JEE Main normalisation, it’s crucial to comprehend why it’s included. Normalization assists in balancing the complexity of an exam that is administered in several sessions on particular days. The JEE Key percentile score obtained by a candidate is determined only after the marks obtained by the candidate have been normalised. JEE Main Percentile Scores show the proportion of candidates who scored in the same percentile as or below the percentile on the test. For each session of examinees, a percentile score is determined on a scale of 100 to 0. The NTA uses a normalisation algorithm to calculate a candidate’s percentile scores for each subject – math, physics, and chemistry, as well as overall – after compiling the raw marks. When two or more candidates with similar percentile points, the following happens. In the event of a draw, the inter-se-merit will be decided using the following rules:

• Candidates with a higher mathematics percentile score would be ranked higher.
• If there is already a tie, the candidate with the higher Physics Percentile Score will be awarded the higher rating.
• If a tie still remains, the candidate with the higher Chemistry Percentile Score will be awarded the higher rating.
• If there is already a tie, the candidate who is older will be granted priority.
