Like other states who conduct TET exams, the Government of Andhra Pradesh each year conducts eligibility test known as AP TET (Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test) to screen out the candidates to fill the posts for teachers in the state. The exam is conducted by the Department of School Education in accordance with the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) for the vacancies in various private and government schools in Andhra Pradesh. It is administered in all 13 districts of the state and the mode of the exam is completely online. The exam contains MCQs with no negative marking. The details of the exam can be accessed on the official website of AP TET. Also, payment of ₹500 is to be made at the time of application.

AP TET 2020 Eligibility Criteria

It is imperative to understand the eligibility criteria for the exam before appearing for it. Given below is the detailed eligibility criteria for the AP TET exam:

  1. The candidate must be between 18-40 years at the time of applying. 
  2. The applicant must be an Indian citizen.
  3. A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% and a BEd degree is prerequisite for the exam.
  4. Candidates who are in the final year of their BEd or DEd can also apply for the AP TET 2020.

AP TET Exam Pattern

The exam has two papers out of which Paper-I is for teaching at the primary level (Class I-V) while Paper-II is for teaching at the upper primary level (Class VI-VIII). Paper-II is further divided into Paper-II (a) and Paper-II (b). The total of 150 objective questions are asked and the allotted time is 2.5 hours. Given below is the paper pattern for each of the two AP TET exam papers:

Paper-I

It gives you the free hand to choose any of the six available languages as the preference for Language-I, but the candidate should have studied the chosen language up to the class 10th. Language-II, which is English, is mandatory for all the candidates applying for the exam. The available languages for the Paper-I of AP TET include:

  • Urdu
  • Hindi
  • Telugu
  • Kannada
  • Tamil
  • Odiya

Paper-II
