What are the MOMA Scholarships?
The MOMA scholarships are provided by the government of India for the 6 minority communities, namely the Muslims, the Christians, the Sikhs, the Buddhists, the Jains and the Parsis. It comes under the duty of the Ministry of Minority affairs and are of three types:
- Pre-Matric Scholarship: For students belonging to Class 1 to 10
- Post-Matric Scholarship: For students of Class 11 to PhD.
- Merit-cum-means Scholarship for Professional and Technical Courses CS: For students pursuing professional/technical courses.
The government provides 30 lakh Pre Matric Scholarships, 5 lakh Post Matric Scholarships and about 60,000 Merit Cum Means Scholarships under this scheme. A minimum 30 percent of these scholarships are reserved for girl students of each community.

Eligibility Criteria
Only students belonging to the six minority communities: Muslim, Christian, Jain, Buddhist, Parsi (Zorastrian) and Sikh are eligible to apply for MOMA Scholarship. Below mentioned is the criteria for the three different schemes in the scholarship:
Pre-Matric MOMA Scholarship:
- For students studying in Standard 1st to 10th.
- Students must have secured at least 50% marks in their last qualifying examination.
- Annual income must not exceed INR 1 lakh per annum.
Post-Matric MOMA Scholarship
- For students studying in Standard 11th to PhD level.
- Those who have taken admission in ITI/technical/vocational/polytechnic courses after 11th standard are also eligible.
- Students must have secured at least 50% marks in their last qualifying examination
- Annual Income must not exceed INR 2 lakh per annum.
Merit-cum-means Moma Scholarship for Professional and Technical Courses
- Students must have taken admission in a technical/professional course.
- Students must have secured at least 50% marks in their last qualifying examination.
- Annual income must not exceed INR 2.5 lakh per annum.
Note: Certificate courses or any other course having a duration of less than a year are not covered in the scholarship.

How to apply for MOMA Scholarship
For applying under this scholarship scheme, the candidate will first need to visit the website of the National Scholarships Portal of the Government of India where they can apply for this scholarship online. Here are the step to apply for the MOMA Scholarships
- If you are a new user, you should first register by clicking on the new registration tab on the website. You need to read the guidelines and register yourself by providing the required information.
