Geography Class 10 CBSE

As a subpart of Social Science subject, CBSE Geography Class 10 syllabus focuses on India’s physical forms and resources. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is among the renowned boards of examinations in India which provides a comprehensive Geography syllabus. As per the revised Date Sheet for Class 10th Exams in 2021, the Social Science Exam for Class 10 has been cancelled for the year 2021. Through this blog will provide insights into the syllabus.

Class 10 Geography Chapter 1: Resources and Development

Under this chapter of Resources and Development, the student will understand the value of resources and the need for their judicious utilisation and conservation. Topics that are covered in this chapter include types of resources, need for resource planning, soil types and distribution, land as a natural resource, land use pattern, land degradation and conservation measures.

In the Forest and Wildlife chapter, students will learn and understand the importance of forests and wildlife in one environment. Topics which are included under this heading include Biodiversity or Biological Diversity, Flora and Fauna in India, The Himalayan Yew in trouble, Conservation of forest and wildlife in India, Types and distribution of forests and wildlife resources, Project Tiger, and Community and Conservation.

Class 10 Geography Chapter 3: Water Resources

The student understands the importance of water as a resource as well as develops awareness towards judicious use and conservation through this chapter. Students study sources and distribution of water, utilisation of water, water scarcity, multi-purpose projects, rainwater harvesting and the need for conservation and management of water.

Topics that are covered in this heading are- types of farming, cropping patterns, technological and institutional reforms, Major Crops and the Impact of Globalization on Agriculture.

Manufacturing Industries chapter aims to discuss the importance of industries in the national economy as well as understand the regional disparities which resulted due to the concentration of industries in some areas and also discuss the need for planned industrial development and debate over the role of government towards sustainable development. Topics which are included under this heading include types of minerals, the spatial distribution of minerals (on a map only), the Contribution of Industry to National Economy, the Contribution of Industry to National Economy, Classification of Industries, Importance of manufacturing and Control of Environmental Degradation.
