Dental Course Eligibility In India

In India, a medical aspirant can pursue dental courses at UG, PG and PhD level. The eligibility criteria differ depending on the course taken up by aspirants. The eligibility criteria for some of the best dental colleges in India is mentioned below. 

For UG level – The duration of the course is 5 years and the candidate must have passed 12th from a recognized board with subjects including Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

For PG Level – Candidates must have secured a BDS degree from a Dental Council of India recognized college. The course duration is 5 years and some colleges have a minimum marks requirement.

For PhD Level – For pursuing a dental course at the PhD level, candidates must have completed their post-graduation from a recognized Dental Council of India university.

The entrance exam for dental courses in India include  NEET and NEET MDS.

It offers UG and PG level programs with varied specializations. It was the first medical college to receive FICCI excellence award. It has a campus area of nearly 30 acres. Aspirants can secure admission to the college only through NEET. They must clear NEET and provide their NEET scores to secure admission. The government takes all the sponsoring for the students, and the fees for the general category is INR 25,000 per annum. The placement percentage was 94% in 2019 for PG courses. Manipal College Of Dental Sciences, Udupi

It offers 189 courses across 13 streams, and BDS is one of the most recognized courses of this esteemed college.  NAAC accredits it. It was ranked 3rd by NIRF 2020. It is no doubt one of the best dental colleges in India.

Admission for BDS is based on obtaining valid scores in NEET UG and meeting the cut off criteria and for aspirants seeking to secure admission for MDS , valid scores in NEET PG is a must requirement.

Saveetha Institute of Medical And Technical Sciences, Chennai

Manipal College Of Dental Sciences, Mangalore

It is affiliated to Sikkim Manipal University and located in Mangalore, Karnataka, and is one of India’s best dental colleges in India. It offers courses in two streams – dental and paramedical. The campus extends to about 600 acres. The estimated annual fees for BDS is INR 20.3 Lakhs. Admission to BDS is through NEET-UG, and financial assistance is provided to students based on their parents’ annual income and All India Rank between 5001-10000 for BDS.
