International Undergraduate Merit Scholarship
This scholarship is available for newly admitted international undergraduate students after they have been selected for admission to the university. The scholarship offers upto 50% concession on tuition fees to the students fulfilling the eligibility criteria.
Eligibility Criteria
- The undergraduate course must start at the University of Sheffield in August 2022.
- The offer letter to pursue the undergraduate course at the University of Sheffield must be received by the candidate. Only two courses are exempted from this clause which is Medicine (A100/A101) and Dentistry (A200).
- The candidates must be able to pay their tuition fees overseas.
- The candidate must have a sponsor.
- The candidate must be a new 1st or 2nd-year undergraduate student at the University of Sheffield.
- March programmes are not considered for this scholarship.
- The University of Sheffield has all the rights to review and change scholarship rules & regulations.
Selection Criteria
- The candidates must have a strong academic background.
- The candidate has clearly stated his goals that relate to the course or degree he has applied to in the SOP. Thus, SOP is the important document that determines candidates’ selection.
Application Process
- The candidate has to fill out the online application form on the MUSE portal.
- If the candidate is eligible he will receive an email containing the scholarship application invite after he/she has successfully received the acceptance letter to pursue the course at the University of Sheffield.
Award Criteria
- The award is limited to one award one person.
- The undergraduate merit scholarship cannot be awarded to candidates who are already part of another scholarship programme like:
- International Baccalaureate Undergraduate Merit Scholarship
- NCUK Undergraduate Merit Scholarship
- GEMS Undergraduate Merit Scholarship
- International School of Choueifat Scholarship
- DPS Undergraduate Merit Scholarship
- NCUK Undergraduate Scholarship
- International Undergraduate Scholarship
- The scholarship can be awarded simultaneously with any available scholarships from the Department or Faculty the candidate will be a part of, but in this case the candidate should not be a sponsored student.
- The scholarship will not be awarded simultaneously if the candidate has an outside source of funding such as being sponsored,except a loan, which has to be paid back in full.
- If the candidate is selected for merit scholarship the guarantee of the award is only limited to the first year. Thereafter the scholarship can only be availed subject to scoring 60% and above & obtaining a total of 120 credits in the previous academic year.
- The merit scholarship is only applicable at the University of Sheffield not including any years in work experience or international student exchange abroad etc as a part of your degree.
- If a candidate is selected for the scholarship but due to some reason is unable to meet the requirement of the course the scholarship will be cancelled.
- If a candidate is awarded a merit scholarship and he/she changes his/her degree programme to begin studies again at from the 1st year of a new degree programme the scholarship will be forfeited.
- The scholarship award will be awarded for a maximum of 4 academic years.
- The scholarship will be awarded as an alternative to tuition fee only, no cash will be provided.
- The decision of the scholarship panel is final.
- The University of Sheffield reserves the right to remove the candidate from a scholarship programme at any time if he/she doesn’t receive the required grades.
- If the candidate is awarded a merit scholarship and he/she subsequently joins the University via clearing the candidate will no longer be eligible to receive the award.

International Undergraduate Scholarship
The scholarship is awarded to new international students for courses in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and Faculty of Social Sciences. The amount awarded in these courses is £2,000 or INR 2 Lakh per year. Other courses included in this scholarship are from the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health, and the Faculty of Science. The amount awarded in the same is £2,500 or INR 2.5 Lakh per year.
Eligibility and Award Criteria
- The undergraduate course must start in the University of Sheffield from September 2022. All undergraduate courses are eligible except Medicine (A100/A101) and Dentistry (A200).
- The candidate must choose the University of Sheffield as his firm and insurance choice before 17 June 2022.
- The scholarship is awarded automatically by the University of Sheffield. There is no application process.
- If the candidate is selected for a scholarship the guarantee of the award is only limited to the first year. Thereafter the scholarship can only be availed subject to scoring 60% and above & obtaining a total of 120 credits in the previous academic year.
- The international undergraduate scholarship cannot be awarded to the candidates who are already part of another scholarship programme like-

- Only the tuition fee will be reduced as an award of scholarship.
- Candidates must be self-funded and should not be sponsored student.
- The scholarship cannot be shifted to a future year of entry. Thus the scholarship will be forfeited in that case.
- Only full-time and part-time students are eligible for scholarship.
- Part-time students will receive the equivalent value of the scholarship split pro-rata over the duration of a single full-time academic year.
- The students of the BA Business Management Joint Programme with SBC (course code MGTU36) and MArch programme are not eligible for the scholarship.
Postgraduate Scholarships
International students can apply for both university-specific/internal and external scholarship programmes at the postgraduate level. The financing options for postgraduate scholarships at the University of Sheffield are comparable to those for undergraduate scholarships.
International Merit Postgraduate Scholarship
Each scholarship is awarded 25% of the tuition fee of the postgraduate course to the international candidates starting their course in September 2022 at the University of Sheffield.
Eligibility and Award Criteria
- The candidate’s semester should start in autumn.
- Only students of regular courses are eligible to apply for scholarships.
- The candidate must have an offer letter with the University of Sheffield and not with any partner university.
- Crossways and Erasmus courses are not included and are eligible for the scholarship process.
- The candidate must be self-funded and not be a sponsored student.
- Not applicable to the courses having clinical fees such as DClinDent Orthodontics, MClinDent in Orthodontics, DClinDent Endodontics, MClinDent in Pediatric Dentistry, DClinDent Periodontics, MMedSci in Diagnostic Oral Pathology & DClinDent Prosthodontics.
- This scholarship is not awarded simultaneously with the following scholarships-

With the exception of the International Merit Postgraduate Scholarships, the majority of internal postgraduate scholarships at the University of Sheffield do not call for a separate application.
