Types of Post-Study Work Permits

There are two types of post-study work permits. The temporary graduate visa has two categories the graduate work stream and the post-study work stream.

Graduate Work Stream

A Graduate Work Stream is for international students who have completed their Australian Study Requirements and have eligible qualifications and skills related to the professions listed on the Skills Occupation List (SOL). It is generally for students who apply for Vocational Education and Training qualification and one of the TAFE institutes. The validity of this visa is 18 months.

Post Study Work Stream

Post study work stream is for those international students who have completed their Australian study requirements and have obtained either a bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree from a recognised Australian university. This is only for students who have applied for and obtained their Australian visa on or after 5 November 2011. The tenure depends on the type of degree you hold.
