Merit-Based Awards

All Haas Scholarship applicants will be considered for merit-based awards and do not require any action. These merit-based awards will be determined based on the overall strength of the application, professional goals, educational achievement, intended concentration, leadership skills, and embodiment of the Haas principles. Note that meeting the criteria means you are eligible for consideration; it does not guarantee that you will be granted the award.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Scholarships

These are the scholarships that come under the categories of diversity, equity and inclusion which is one of the goals of the scholarships that are provided to the students. Below is the list of scholarships – 

Center for Equity, Gender and Leadership Fellowship

It is awarded to the candidate who is fluent in the field of equity and has the qualities of becoming a great leader.

Dr Tahir Fellowship

It is provided by the generosity of Dr Dato’ Sri Tahir and is awarded to international students with a preference for those who completed their undergraduate education in Asia.

Galloway MBA Fellowship

It is provided by the generosity of Mr Scott Galloway and in conjunction with the Galloway Scholars Program at Berkeley Haas. It supports students in the Full-Time MBA Program at the Haas School of Business. It is to financially support children of immigrants, for both undergraduate and graduate students at the Berkeley Haas School of Business.

Song Feiqing Fellowship

It is provided by the generosity of Ms Roberta Sung in honour of Song Feiqing. It is an award to support high-achieving FTMBA students with preference for international students preferably from China and who intend to pursue business opportunities either in China or in other parts of Southeast Asia after graduation.

Tirado Fellowship

It is provided by the generosity of Steve Tirado. It is a one-year scholarship for students that demonstrate a commitment to diversity.

Torres Family Fellowship

It is provided by the generosity of Mr Michael Torres. This one-year fellowship is awarded to MBA students who are US citizens preferably California high school graduates and first-generation college students with demonstrated leadership and commitment to diversity.

Academic Excellence, Leadership or Industry Scholarships

These are the scholarships that are mostly given to students showing academic excellence, qualities of leadership and skills to work in the industry. The list of scholarships based on these categories is as follows:

Blue Duck Scholarship

It is provided by the generosity of alumnus John Natt (MBA Batch of ’69). It is awarded to an MBA student who has received his or her undergraduate degree from the University of Oregon. This award is dependent on the endowment payout available and the total number of eligible candidates.

C&J White Fellowship

It is awarded to MBA students pursuing careers in finance.

Centre for Responsible Business (CRB) Fellowship

It is awarded to students who demonstrate their commitment to responsible business and their desire to engage with and support the Center for Responsible Business at Berkeley Haas.

David Acker Marketing Fellowship

It is provided by the generosity of David and Kay Acker. This is a two-year fellowship supporting high-achieving graduate students who are pursuing careers in marketing with a special interest in brand marketing or brand development.

Delbert/Duncan Fellowship

It is awarded to MBA students pursuing careers in marketing.

Mike and Carol Meyer Fellowship

It is provided by the generosity of Mike Meyer and Carol Meyer. It is for students with an undergraduate degree in the fields of engineering or science or who intend to pursue an entrepreneurial career.

Need-Based Awards

These scholarships are given on the basis of need to the students who show promising performance in different fields and need financial assistance. Given below is the list of need-based scholarships –

Jimenez Family Fellowship

It is awarded to US Citizens who are students in the MBA program and demonstrate financial need.

Ted Pearson Memorial Fellowship

It is awarded to MBA students that present significant financial need.

Supplemental Scholarships

All of the Haas scholarships are awarded at the time of admissions based on the overall strength of the admissions application. Additional scholarship opportunities requiring supplemental information are also available. These opportunities are accessible through your Graduate Admissions status page. U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and international students are all eligible for scholarship consideration.

Berkeley MBA Grant

It is awarded to students based primarily on significant financial need. Some factors that will be considered are – income, savings, assets, and household size etc.

Brian Maxwell Fellowship

It was established in memory of Brian L. Maxwell through the generosity of Jennifer Maxwell. It is awarded to individuals who demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit and drive to create and implement innovative projects, products, and ideas. For more information visit their website.

Fellowship Designations

These are the fellowships given by certain institutions which want to help students with their studies, believing in the future of the world through education. Given below is the list of fellowships provided – 

The Forte

 It works to empower female MBA students. It enables Haas scholarship recipients to participate in and benefit from the Forté community but no funding is provided.

Reaching out MBA

It works to empower LGBT MBA students. It enables Haas scholarship recipients to participate in and benefit from the ROMBA community but no funding is provided.

Haas – FUNED Grant

Haas has collaborated with FUNED as a part of their FUNED Scholars program. It provides educational funding support for students from Mexico who demonstrate extreme financial need and are pursuing masters degrees at competitive academic programs worldwide. The MBA applicants have to submit their applications to FUNED and be approved as a scholar prior to receiving consideration for the Haas – FUNED grant. Admits must also apply for the need-based Berkeley MBA Need- Based Grant. The commitment from Haas is 2 awards of $10,000 each academic year.  First-year students who have received the Berkeley MBA Grant and then second-year students with Berkeley MBA Grant will be prioritized.

MasterCard Foundation Scholarship

The Scholars Program aims to develop a cohort of ethical, entrepreneurial and energetic young leaders who will drive and lead socio-economic transformation in Africa. The first phase of the Program has benefitted 35,000 young people over 10 years mostly in Sub-Saharan Africa. Note, to be considered students must apply for admission and be admitted in Round 1. Consortium Fellowships

The Consortium works to empower those who are committed to enhancing diversity in business and leadership. Applicants selected as a recipient of the Consortium Fellowship will be considered for an award of 100% coverage for all mandatory fees covered for two years of the full-time MBA program. Note that Consortium Fellowship recipients are eligible and encouraged to apply for other Berkeley Haas scholarships as well.
