How to apply?

In order to apply for a DAAD scholarship, students are required to submit an online application enclosed with documents like a letter of acceptance, curriculum vitae, statement of purpose (SOP or optionally with letter of motivation, research proposal, letter of experience, proof of placements, references amongst others. Further, oftentimes, proving English language proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL scores or German language proficiency tests is required.   • A postgraduate and a doctoral degree programme completed at a university in Germany
  • Students enrolled for one academic year in Germany as part of a postgraduate or master’s degree programme with completing the degree abroad (either, the first or second year of study)
  • Language Requirements differ depending on the course:
    • The minimum requirement to apply for a DAAD scholarship is an IELTS (band 6) certificate or TOEFL (minimum score of 550 paper-based, 213 computer-based and 80 internet-based).
    • For students applying to courses taught in German, German Language tests like a DSH 2 or Test DaF 4 certificate is necessary for matriculation. Students must possess a level B1 certificate is necessary.
  • Students must possess an academic degree in the respective course and the last academic degree should not be older than 6 years.
