About Maulana Azad Scholarship Scheme

Begum Hazrat Mahal Scholarship

Being one of the popular scholarships for girls in India and earlier called the Maulana Azad National Scholarship scheme, the Begum Hazrat Mahal Scholarship is offered to students from 9th to 12th class across the country, provided they hail from any one of the 6 minority communities (Muslims, Christians, Jains, Sikhs, Buddhists, and Parsis) and have a family income of fewer than 2 lacs per annum.

Maulana Azad National Fellowship (MANF)

Offered by the University Grants Commission, the Maulana Azad National Fellowship program is for students who are pursuing their M.Phill or PhD programme [Science, Engineering & Technology, Social Science, or Humanities streams] in India and belong to one of the minority communities i.e, Parsis, Muslims, Jains, Sikhs, Buddhists, and Christians.

Maulana Azad Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship 

  • The candidate should be a girl student of class 9th to 12th. 
  • The applicant should be from Sikh, Muslim, Jain, Parsi, Christain, or Buddhist background. They have to prove their minority community certificate on an affidavit. 
  • The applicant must have scored 50% aggregate marks in the previous class in order to apply for the Begum Hazrat Mahal or previously called Maulana Azad Scholarship scheme.
  • The applicant’s income should not exceed 2 lakh per annum from all sources. They have to produce a proper income certificate duly signed and issued by the Tehsildar or Block officer. 

Maulana Azad National Fellowship

  • Candidates with 50% of aggregate marks in their Master’s programmes are eligible. 
  • Applicant should be from Sikh, Muslim, Jain, Parsi, Christain, or Buddhist background and should submit a proof of minority certificate. 
  • Should have cleared CSIR-NET/CBSE-NET
  • Those who have enrolled in M.Phil/ PhD courses in registered universities and have cleared NET-JRF or UGC exam are eligible for the Maulana Azad Fellowship scheme.
  • Candidates from the transgender community are equally encouraged to apply for this scholarship
  • Applicants’ income should not exceed 2.5 lakh per annum for all sources. They have to produce a proper income certificate duly signed and issued by the Tehsildar or Block officer.

Maulana Azad Scholarship Rewards and Benefits
