The University of Canberra was founded in 1967 in Canberra, Australia and was formerly known as Canberra College of Advanced Education. The Canberra CAE changed its status to the University of Canberra under the guidance of Monash University in 1990. Since 1970, more than 70,000 students have graduated from the university. Since 2007, the University of Canberra has rapidly grown by 78%, from 7,300 students to more than 13,000 in 2014. The University of Canberra programs are accredited by the Higher Education departments of the Australian Qualifications Framework and are internationally recognized. The Bachelor of Business Informatics program has been accredited by the Australian Computer Society (ACS). Bachelor of Building and Construction Management program has been accredited by the Australian Institute of Building (AIB). Having said that, the University of Canberra is ranked 436th by QS World University Rankings and ranks 170th by THE World University Rankings 2022.

Infrastructure, Campuses, and Courses

The University of Canberra has one campus, situated in the suburb of Bruce, which spreads about 290 acres of buildings, roads, and access routes. There are 28 buildings, each devoted to a specific field of learning or faculty. Most of these buildings are around the main concourse. Regular public buses may drop you off directly on campus, which is surrounded by Lake Ginninderra, the new suburb of Lawson, Radford College, and residential accommodation. Within walking distance are student housing, an on-campus medical and counselling centre, the Australian Institute of Sport, Calvary Public Hospital, Belconnen Shopping Mall, and a range of eateries. The University offers more than 220 courses in five fields of Arts & Design, Business, Government & Law, Education, Health, and Science & Technology. The university offers 46 Undergraduate programs in fields like Accounting, Law, Human Resource Management, and others. The University offers 21 graduate programs in Public Administration, Business Administration, International Business, Marketing, and others.

Accomplishments and Alumni 

The University of Canberra has collaborated with TAFE Queensland and Sydney, which provides a wide range of exciting programs in Brisbane (South Bank and Mt Gravatt). These programs are market-driven. Their graduates gain the needed skills for working in the real-world industry. The University of Canberra has also partnered with the Global Business College of Australia in Melbourne to make high-quality education that combines theory and hard skills required for a job. The university has a lot focused on research and experimentation and is home to popular research institutes like the Institute for Applied Ecology (IAE) and Institute for Governance and Policy Analysis (IGPA).
