The University of Paderborn was founded as a comprehensive university on August 1, 1972. Paderborn University is one of the top universities in Germany with a strong academic profile, governance and research & innovation. Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses
The University of Paderborn is exclusively located in Paderborn city on a beautiful campus on Warburger Street and in the building on Fürstenallee. The University stretches across two campuses in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The main campus also houses the library of the institution, academic activities of Computer Science and Systems Engineering departments are organized at the Fürstenallee campus. Paderborn University also has an international office which has collaborated with over 140 partner universities worldwide to offer exchange programs throughout the globe. Paderborn University comprises five academic faculties that cover a wide range of courses in the subject areas of Arts and Humanities, Business Studies, Natural Sciences, Engineering and many others. Accomplishments and Alumni
Paderborn University is the winner of the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize awarded by the German Research Foundation. The University is in close collaboration with the Heinz Nixdorf Institute for Parallel Computing. In 2018, it set the world record for optical data transmission at 128 gigabits per second at the Heinz Nixdorf Institute of the University of Paderborn. The University is the ERC grant recipient of the European Research Council.
