- As INCOSPAR developed further, it became ISRO in the year 1969.
- GOI established a Space Commission and Space Department (DOS) in the year 1972, including ISRO under the guidance of DOS.

Operation Centers of ISRO
ISRO carries out its operations through a regional network of centres. The following are these centres:

- Thiruvananthapuram Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre has the responsibility of building the launching vehicles.
