With the successful touchdown of Chandrayaan-3 as the first one to achieve a soft landing on the Moon’s south polar region, ISRO is set to move on to its next mission, Gaganyaan. This project was addressed by India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Independence Day speech in the year 2018. Standing as the relentless pursuit of space exploration, this mission initially planned for April 2022 was delayed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Nonetheless, ISRO is all set to resume things. About Gaganyaan Mission

After the recent Lunar mission of ISRO, the Indian Space Research Organization is planning on Gaganyaan Mission. The first uncrewed flight is supposed to happen in 2023, followed by the second test flight in 2024. With the success of Gaganyaan, India is poised to ascend as the fourth nation globally to launch its own crewed spacecraft, following the Soviet Union, the USA, and China.

Cost of Gaganyaan Mission

The cost of ISRO’s Ganaganyaan is nearly 9908 crores. This amount has already been approved for this space mission by the government of India.

Objective of Gaganyaan Mission 

While Chandryaan-3 aimed at delivering a spacecraft along with Vikram lander and Pragyan Hover to the lunar surface, Gaganyaan assumes a whole new extraordinary mission. Here is what you need to know about the same:

  • The objective of the Gaganyaan Mission is to carry three Indian Astronauts to outer space. 
  • ISRO will use its LMV III rocket that will carry the crew members in an orbit of 400 km. 
  • They will stay there for 3 days and on 4th day the rocket will bring them back to earth by landing them in Indian Waters.
