What is IUCN?
75 years ago, on the 5th of October, 1948, in France, the IUCN organization was established and was committed to the conservation of nature as well as biodiversity and the sustainable use of natural resources. Moreover, Julian Huxley, a British biologist and the first Director General initiated the setup of the organisation. In addition, from the year 1948 to 1956 the IUCN was known as the International Union for the Protection of Nature. Later it changed to the World Conservation Union from 1990 to 2008.

Furthermore, its headquarters is in Glan, Switzerland with Bruno Oberlo as its Director General and Razan Al Mubarak as its President.
