The full form of ISA is Industry Standard Architecture. It is a 16-bit internal bus designed by International Business Machines (IBM). It is similar to Intel 80286-based computer. Moreover, ISA has a double speed of 8 megahertz (Mhz) to 33 Mhz and can connect 6 devices at once for single users. This internal bus was designed to allow extra expansion cards that require to be connected to a computer’s motherboard. It was launched in 1981 with the aim to support the Intel 80286 microprocessor. This microprocessor is connected to the 1st Generation of IBM personal computers (PC).

Goals and Visions of ISA
The primary purpose of the ISA bus is to allow for the addition of expansion cards in PCs. It has been utilized in various capacities, such as connecting a video card, network card, or extra serial port. The original 8-bit version of the PCI serves as a 62-pin connector and supports speeds ranging from 8 to 33 MHz.
In essence, the ISA bus consists of supported instructions for data types and registers that help manage the computer’s main memory. The ISA bus incorporates fundamental features that ensure memory consistency, address modes for functions, and virtual memory. The input and output model, along with the family implementations, play a crucial role in the ISA bus.

Some of the upcoming projects of Industry Standard Architecture are:
- Launch of VHDL ( Very High-Speed Integrated Circuit (VHSIC) Hardware Description Language) model
- Curtailment of designing time by 50%, which currently takes around 4 to 5 months
- Integrate new skills in the VHSIC Hardware Description Language model, owing to which it becomes the analogue design method used to improve the products.
- Additionally, ISA is also in the process of recycling 50% of the designs in future.
