  • Charles Ranlett Flint founded The Company CTR (Computing Tabulating Recording Company) on June 16, 1911. The International Time Recording Company, the Computing Scale Company, and the Tabulating Machine Company merged to form the company.
  • Around 1914, Thomas J. Watson, Sr., a founder of the National Cash Register Company, founded the Computing Tabulating Recording Company.
  • In 1924, IBM replaced CTR as the company’s moniker.
