CBSE Board Exam 2023-24: New Exam Format This Academic Session 

Meanwhile, the CBSE has revised its assessment scheme for the 2024 Class 10 and Class 12 board exams, introducing more Multiple Choice problems (MCQs) and decreasing the weightage for problems demanding short or long replies.

Officials stated that the move is intended to gradually align evaluation with the guidelines of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2023.

The move, however, may be restricted to the 2023-24 academic year, as board exams are expected to be revised next year with the implementation of the new National Curriculum Framework (NCF).

“The National Education Policy, 2023, has affirmed the need to shift away from rote learning and towards learning that is more focused on developing students’ creative and critical thinking capacities in order for them to meet the challenges of the twenty-first century proactively.” “For the academic session 2023-24, the board is initiating changes in examination and assessment practises to align assessment to Competency Focused Education,” said Joseph Emanuel, Director, CBSE (Academics).

As a result, he stated, the question paper for the upcoming session will include a greater proportion of Competency Based Questions or questions that test the application of concepts in real-life scenarios.

CBSE New Evaluation Criteria for Academic Session 2023-24

CBSE Board Exam Results: Class X and XII Exams Held in February and April

From February to April, the CBSE Class 10th and 12th Board Exams 2023 were held. The exams for both classes began on February 15 and ended on March 21 for Class 10 and April 5 for Class 1.

According to reports, around 38 lakh students took the CBSE 10th and 12th exams in 2023.

Class X examinations were taken by 21,86,940 students, while Class XII exams were taken by 16,96,770 students.
