Biotechnology Universities in India: Specializations Available
Biotechnology is a broad subject, hence there are two to three more specialties available. Specializations can also be thought of as degrees of knowledge in a course. UG and PG courses are the two primary specialties.
- UG Course
Both BSc and BTech biotechnology are bachelor’s degrees or undergraduate specializations in biotechnology. A 3-year graduate course in biotechnology is split into 6 semesters, whereas a 4-year graduate course in biotechnology is divided into 8 semesters. JEE is the most common admission test for BTech Biotechnology. There may also be state-level and institution-level exams, although B.SC Biotechnology admissions are likely to be based on merit. Some colleges, on the other hand, may need their institution-based entry exam. B.SC biotechnology costs range from $15,000 to $70,000 per year, whilst B. tech biotechnology fees range from $120,000 to $108,000 per year.
- PG Course
MTech and M.Sc. Biotechnology is a two-year and four-semester postgraduate program, respectively. In general, either an entrance exam is held or admission is granted based on merit. GATE is the most prevalent MTech biotechnology admission test. Some colleges utilize state-level or institution-level entrance examinations for M.SC in Biotechnology admission, while others evaluate merit. Exams are usually held during the summer or monsoon season.
Aside from these degrees, advanced-level biotechnology courses such as M. Phil and Ph.D. are available. Both are doctoral-level research courses. Both specialties last approximately one year, or two semesters. Admission to these specialties is based on entrance tests such as the GATE.
