The full form of PHH is Priority Household. This term comes under the allocation of Ration Cards in India by the National Food Security Act (NFSA). Under this scheme, there are other ration cards such as AAY, APL, BPL, and AY available which will depend on the income of the citizen. The PHH ration card also helps aid those citizens who have a house but do not have a stable income.

What are the Benefits of PHH?

The benefits of PHH are as follows:

• 5kgs of ration per person per month. 
• Additional 10kg of ration per household per month. For example, a family of 3 members previously got a 15kgs of ration each month now they will get 25kgs of ration from now.
• Subsidized prices of ration for PHH cardholders- Rs.3 per kg for Rice, Rs.2 per kg for Wheat, and Rs.1 per kg for coarse grains. 
• PHH cardholders can apply for other government schemes such as PM Awas Yojana, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, etc. 
• PHH can also make use of other government schemes that can get them employed, especially women. 
• PHH cardholders who do not have gas for cooking in their houses can register themselves for PM Ujjwala Yojana and get a subsidized cooking gas connection.
• To get a driving license the PHH ration card would be required.
• To get a PAN card made the PHH card can be used as identification proof. 
• PHH cardholders can also use their card to open up a bank account.

Citizens who are included in the PHH ration card allocation are:

• A citizen with no shelter. 
• A citizen with more than 40% disability.
• Families with transgender members.
• All households which are primitive tribal groups.
• Households that comprise of destitute that are living on alms.
