Orange Knowledge Program

The Orange Knowledge Program is a Dutch funding program that aims to contribute to society’s sustainable, social, economic and inclusive development by strengthening the knowledge and skills of professionals and organizations. It was initiated and funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is managed by Nuffic. The focus is on providing education in collaboration with Dutch knowledge organizations. The scholarships it provides are open to those who want to study in the Netherlands and are mid-career professionals. This facility is available in about 54 countries with 38 countries currently available for facilities. The amount of reward depends on the country, program and level of study and performance in the eligibility criteria and selection process.

Application Process

The applicants have to contact their Dutch Education Institution which would have their own criteria. The applicants will have to apply online for the scholarship and check if their institution and choice, of course, are eligible for the Orange Knowledge Program. Keep your documents handy while applying and the form should be submitted before the deadline.

Eligibility Criteria

To be able to get the scholarships the candidates must fulfill the eligibility criteria for the program and for their educational institutions. The eligibility requirements are given below –  

For Individuals

  • The candidate should be a professional in a relevant field and should be experienced enough to be able to execute the knowledge of their field.
  • The candidate should be a national of one of the countries listed in the Orange Knowledge Program country list and should be working in a country from the said list.
  • The candidate should have secured admission at a university in the Netherlands in one of the courses listed in the category for Orange Knowledge Program scholarships.
  • The candidate should have valid identification documents and a passport.

For Organizations

  • The organization should have signed the Code of Conduct for International students or should be on the List of additional knowledge centres.
  • The course that is offered should be by the organization itself and there should not be any third party involved.
  • The organization should be able to prove its sufficiency in financial and organizational means. The organization should provide the funding for the co-financed scholarships which are applicable for masters programs.
  • The organization should declare to meet its reporting deadlines.

Orange Knowledge Program Courses

The scholarship is available for short-term courses with a duration of about 2 weeks – 12 months and for masters programs as well with a duration of about 12 – 24 months. You can find the course that is suitable for the Orange Knowledge Program Scholarship on their database. 

Selection Process

The selection process depends on the applicant’s eligibility, the course, results of tests for studying abroad, requirements of the country and adherence to Orange Knowledge Program guidelines. The whole procedure takes about 4 weeks to complete. Once the candidates have registered with their educational institution, the institution nominates candidates and submits grant applications which are checked and assessed by the embassies. The result of the selections is published after that and the candidates are informed about it and the grants are awarded.

The countries which are participating are divided into 2 categories – Category A, where all the countries have access to all instruments except Indonesia.  Category – B countries do not have institutional collaboration projects other than that all the other instruments are available.
