Murray State University, a nationally recognized public university in the United States founded in 1922, enrolls about 10,000 students from 46 nations throughout the world. The institution takes pride in being a safe community with all of the facilities of a big city. For international students, there are about 60 campus buildings with stores, eateries, and nearby lodgings. Murray State University, unlike other universities, provides a full college experience. Students can compete and relax by joining an intramural sports team, forming friendships with student organizations, and participating in one or more of their campus’s distinctive traditions. The Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area, with 170,000 acres of hiking, fishing, swimming, and other outdoor activities, is just off the road. Nashville, St. Louis, and Louisville, among other major cities, are all within driving distance. The student-to-faculty ratio is at 16:1, and class sizes are kept short to encourage student-teacher interaction and a holistic learning environment.
