Nationwide, there are 200 PBSA projects that house about 76,000 students. The international Chinese students make up 27% of all PBSA inhabitants, while other domestic students make up 26%.
More than a quarter (26%) of the 76,500 student beds offered by housing providers across the nation are occupied by Australians, roughly at par with the percentage rented by their Chinese counterparts (27%), according to the Property Council of Australia who carried out a groundbreaking report on the industry released on Thursday.
The first-of-its-kind survey by the Student Accommodation also showed that more Australian students are now residing in PBSA than ever before. According to a poll, the majority of Australian cities’ PBSA facilities are currently full, however, not all of our international students have returned.
A separate analysis revealed that education, valued at $40 billion prior to the pandemic, is Australia’s fourth-largest export after iron ore, coal, and gas. A robust pipeline of new PBSA assets in Australia to guarantee the growth of the crucial international education sector and the support of CBDs in the recovery.
