Amazon to Launch Future Engineer Program in India

Amazon is all set to expand it’s very own Future Engineer Program in India with a focus on the education space in the second largest internet market of the world. In a recent post, Amazon claimed to be underway the initial research for launching a Computer Science Educa.

It will be focusing on underserved and underrepresented children and young adults. Let us discover why Amazon is launching the Future Engineer Program in India.

When is Amazon Launching the Future Engineer program in India?

Amazon plans to launch the scheme in India in 2021. Amazon’s Childhood to Career initiative is currently active in the United States, which supports over 5,000 schools and 550,000 computer students. Having said that, Amazon India is at present focusing primarily on equipping the underserved and underprivileged communities with children and young adults and giving them the right opportunities to create better futures for themselves.

The American e-commerce giant, which has invested over $6.5 billion in India so far, has explored India’s education space and education system in recent years. Last year, they launched JEE Ready, an application to help students prepare to enter India’s prestigious technological institutes and universities. JEE Ready which has since been renamed Amazon Academy, offers free online courses and analyses student performance in mock tests.

But Amazon is not the only American company that is paying attention to India’s increasing education sector. India is the only country where more than 260 million children go to school and most of the population views education as a road to economic growth, prosperity, poverty escape and the ability to achieve a better standard of living. 

Facebook also partnered with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), a government agency regulating private and public school education in India, in early 2020, to launch a certified curriculum on digital security and online well-being and virtual reality for students and educators. Not only that, but Facebook has also invested in Unacademy, a start-up based in Bangalore that provides online or e-learning courses. 

In addition to Facebook, Google has also partnered with CBSE. The partnership aimed at training more than 1 million teachers in India and providing them with a variety of free resources to help digitize the nation’s educational experience and the entire education system of India with the help of Google devices such as G Suite for Education, Google Classroom and YouTube.

Microsoft is no way behind, just like Amazon, Facebook and Google. In order to help over 1 million people to upskill themselves, the giant technology tycoon, which is based in the US has also collaborated with several governments and business bodies and institutions in India, including the National Skill Development Corporation and Nasscom.
