National-Level Hotel Management Entrance Exams

National Council of Hotel Management and Catering Technology Joint Entrance Examination (NCHMCT JEE)

NCHMCT JEE is a national-level entrance exam for admission to the top hotel management colleges in India. It is a popular exam that is conducted by NTA to admit students in numerous undergraduate-level and post-graduate-level Hotel Management courses offered by colleges that are affiliated with the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology.

BSc in Hotel and Hospital Administration  3 years
MSc in hotel and hospital administration  2 years

Note: The number of seats available for admission as of 2020 were 11,515.


AIMA conducts Undergraduate Aptitude Tests (UGAT) at both national and international level to provide admission to its qualifying and deserving candidates. This exam is specifically for Bachelor of Hotel Management course offered by AIMA. Moreover, AIMA UGAT is conducted in an offline mode across various states of India and the duration of this exam is 3 hours.

State-Level Hotel Management Entrance Exams

Maharashtra Hotel Management Common Entrance Test  (MAH HM CET)

MAH HM CET is conducted to select students for full-time undergraduate Hotel Management and catering courses. This course is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the duration of this reputed course is 4 years. It is mainly conducted in online mode and the minimum eligibility for the exam is 45% marks in 10+2.

West Bengal Joint Entrance for Hospitality Management (WB JEHOM)

This test is conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board. This exam helps the eligible and qualifying candidates to get admission to the undergraduate program. Moreover, WB JEHOM is mainly for the 3-year bachelor’s degree program in Hotel Management and Catering Technology in colleges in West Bengal.

Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology  (UPSEE BHMCT)

This is a state-level entrance exam conducted by Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University. The allotment of seats for this exam is decided by the Constitution of the Admission Board (CAB). The course offered under the UPSEE BHMCT is Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology spanning 3 years in duration.

University-Level Hotel Management Entrance Exams


Conducted by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, IPU CET for Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (3 years). This exam is conducted once a year and it offers admission to colleges that are affiliated with GGSIPU and the applications are out by the 1st week of April every year.


CUET is another prominent university-level entrance exam for admission into Christ University’s Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM) course. It is a 4-year bachelor’s program with a total number of 60 seats. The eligibility criteria for this course is that the candidate must have completed his +2 in any stream from any of the recognised Board in India.

Punjab University Tourism and Hospitality Aptitude Test (PUTHAT)

Punjab University conducts PUTHAT as an entrance exam for its two popular 3-year bachelor’s courses, i.e. Bachelor fo Hotel Management and Catering Technology and Bachelor of Tourism and Travel Management. Any candidate who has passed 10+2 from CBSE or equivalent exam from a recognised Board is eligible for this test.
