The Full Form of PARAKH is Performance Assessment, Review, and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development. NCERT launched PARAKH in line with NEP 2020 as its constituent unit. It aims to remove discrepancies in scoring in state board examinations as well as set a standard evaluation system. On the 11th of September, 2020 during a conference on “School Education in the 21st Century” our current Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a statement to build a National Assessment Centre called PARAKH. Moreover, the PM also put out a statement saying that practical knowledge is important along with industry knowledge.

What is the PARAKH Policy?

The Student Learning Assessment Project aims to take into consideration the qualitative and quantitative aspects of the students learning. Furthermore, the All India Council for Technical Education PARAKH project has been designed with a couple of things in mind, such as the need to estimate the standard levels of learning with the inclusion of higher-order thinking skills(HOTS). Students need to be able to gain technical knowledge along with doing away with the use of rote learning. 

Additionally, developing students to be global competitors in any field by bridging the gap between industry and academics. Doing so in a way where students have a platform to self-assess their knowledge as well as inculcate 21st-century skills.

What are the Objectives of PARAKH?

The Objectives of PARAKH are as follows:

  1. To develop Skilled Graduates by acquiring Higher-Order Thinking Skills and Academic Skills.
  2. To close the gap between Placed and Passed students in India.
  3. Moreover, to develop a sense of generosity along with social, civil, and personal responsibility among the students of India. 
  4. To instil in students collaborative problem-solving skills as well as Intercultural knowledge.
  5. In addition, Skilled Graduates can further contribute towards innovation and productivity, which would then lead India to higher economic growth.
