To explain it simply, you can take up a Post Basic BSc Nursing course only if you have completed the GNM course and are a registered nurse. However, you can take up BSc Nursing if you have passed Class 12th in Biology. Since students gain some work experience after becoming registered nurses, the average salary of PBBsc is higher. Post Basic BSc Nursing Eligibility

As an Indian student, to be eligible for a Post Basic BSc Nursing undergraduate course, you have to fulfil the following requirements:

  • 10+2 years of education with science (biology, chemistry and physics) as the primary subjects
  • Minimum cutoff in the common entrance exams (NEET) or university-specific entrance exams (JIPMER and IGNOU OPENNET) 
  • Completed a GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) course before applying for the Post Basic BSc Nursing 
  • If not GNM, any diploma or certificate course in nursing of 6 to 9 months
  • Registered as a Nurse under any of the State Nursing Registration Councils
