Modi Govt launched an Innovation Challenge for creating an Indian Language Learning App on 28th April 2021. It aims to take forward the Prime Minister’s vision of celebrating India’s cultural diversity. The app for MyGov’s Innovation Challenge will allow individuals to learn simple sentences of any Indian language and gain a working knowledge of any Indian language. The motive of this challenge is to create an app that will promote regional language literacy.
MyGov is the Government of India’s innovative citizen engagement platform for direct citizen participation in governance. It provides an avenue for citizens to channelize their ideas and creative suggestions to Central Ministries and associated organizations. Citizens can participate in policy formulation and program implementation to usher in an era of direct participatory democracy. About Innovation Challenge
The idea of a structured cultural connect between citizens of different regions of the country was mentioned by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi during the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas held on 31st October 2015. The Hon’ble Prime Minister propounded that cultural diversity is a joy that ought to be celebrated through mutual interaction & reciprocity between people of different States and Union territories in the true spirit of “Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat”. This innovation challenge is designed to build an App to learn basic sentences in various languages. It is a step in reducing the language barrier which exists due to the huge diversity in our country.
Parameters of the Modi Govt’s Innovation Challenge
- It should be easy to use.
- Simplicity should be maintained.
- It should have a user-friendly Graphical User Interface.
- It should have a great gamification feature.
- It should have fine UI, UX and superior content
These parameters make the app easy and fun to learn an Indian language and the participants are given full freedom to propose and design the features to reflect their understanding of the problem. Vision for the App
It should be multi-modular and have the capacity to teach through the written word, voice and video/visuals. App developers can propose multiple interfaces for engagement of learners.
Important Dates for Participation
Modi Govt launched Innovation Challenge for Indian individuals, start-ups and companies. For the product to be developed as part of the Challenge, if any Patent is being used, the contesting entity must possess the legitimate rights to use the Patents. The product to be developed for the challenge should be designed and developed in India. The Innovation Challenge launched by the Modi Government closes on 27 May 2021. Submission of Prototype will close at 11:59 PM IST on the last day of submission.
Modi Govt Innovation Challenge: Selection Process
Upon evaluation of submission of prototypes, the top 10 teams will get an invitation to make presentations and the top 3 will be selected by a jury. The top 3 will receive funding of ₹20, ₹10 and ₹5 lakhs respectively to make their apps finer.
