Dr. Rajendra Prasad, born on December 3, 1884, in Bihar, was India’s first President, serving from 1950 to 1962. He was an exceptional student and went on to earn top honours at the University of Calcutta and pursue law. Dr Rajendra Prasad was also inspired by Mahatma Gandhi. He joined the freedom struggle and played a key role in the Champaran Satyagraha to help farmers. As President of the Constituent Assembly, he helped shape India’s Constitution and was honoured with the Bharat Ratna in 1962.
Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan

Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was India’s second President, serving from 1962 to 1967. A brilliant scholar, he was a professor of philosophy and vice chancellor at prestigious universities in India and abroad, including the University of Oxford. He represented India as an ambassador to the Soviet Union and served as Vice President before becoming President. Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was famous for interpreting Indian philosophy for the West, especially in his books. Every year on 5 September, India celebrates his birthday as Teachers’ Day to honour his contributions to education.

5. Droupadi Murmu

Droupadi Murmu became India’s 15th President on July 25, 2022. She is the first tribal president, the second woman president, and the youngest to hold this position. A member of the BJP, she served as Odisha MLA and later as Governor of Jharkhand (2015–2021).
