First Vice President Of India And His Contribution

Dr. Sarvepalli Radhkrishnan was born on September 5, 1888, in a small town in Tamil Nadu. 

  • He went on to pursue a Master’s degree in Philosophy from the University of Madras.
  • Furthermore, he went on to study at the University of Oxford, where he deepened his knowledge of Eastern and Western philosophy.
  • Dr. Radhakrishnan began his career as a philosophy lecturer and became a renowned scholar in the field.
  • He also served as the Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University and later as the Vice-Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University.
  • Dr. Radhakrishnan’s profound knowledge and expertise in philosophy led him to be appointed as the first Vice President of India in 1952, under the leadership of Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India.

His Role as Vice- President

As the first Vice President of India, Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan played an important role in the functioning of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament.
