History, Affiliations and Rankings
The University of Konstanz is a university in the city of Konstanz in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Founded in 1966, its main campus opened in Gießberg in 1972. The one-stage legal training was adapted by the university as part of a pilot program in the 1970s and 1980s, in which the phases of practice and study were closely interlinked. Initially, the university also offered a basic course in social sciences, in which students of administrative sciences, economics and law completed their studies together. In February 2018, the University of Konstanz submitted three full cluster applications to the DFG. Two of the three presented cluster initiatives received funding. Since two excellence clusters are a prerequisite for participation in the second funding line "Excellence Universities", the University of Konstanz submitted a full application in this funding line in December 2018. The university is affiliated with German Excellence Universities, EUA, YERUN, IBH. It is ranked #537 in Best Global Universities, #223 in Best Global Universities in Europe and at #38 in Best Global Universities in Germany.
Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses
The campus of the University of Konstanz covers around 90,000 square metres and is located in the city of Gießberg. The University of Konstanz has modern laboratories, art studios, libraries and computer centres that support qualitative learning. Since its foundation, the university has remained the centre of innovation. It worked with the federal and state governments on the "Excellence Initiative" and "Strategy of Excellence" research projects. In addition, the university has partnerships with several research universities around the world for integrated research programs and maintains alliances with industry for commercialised research initiatives and technology transfer. The number of programs at University Konstanz is over 100 due to the plethora of study areas. Biological Science, Economics, German language, and Life Science are some of the top-notch admission restricted courses of UG programs. Chemistry, Computer Science, and History are some of the most popular UG programs which are not restricted. Computer and Information Science, Anthropology, and Mathematics are the most popular PG programs. Some other courses are Language, Biology, Sciences, Social Studies, Data Science and Analytics, Engineering, Medicine, Sports Sciences, Law, Physics, Neuroscience, Political Science, Chinese, Finance, French, Health Care, Media Studies, and Nanotechnology.

The university participates in scientific cooperation and exchange programs with more than 70 universities worldwide, making it one of the elite universities in Germany. It has ties with many prestigious institutions including Harvard, Johns Hopkins University, Yale University, University of Chicago, UC Berkeley, University of Zurich and the Balsillie School of International Affairs. Some of the notable alumni are Ingo Zamperoni (German television presenter), Ingo Lenßen (German jurist), Zoran ?in?i? (Politician).

The total number of students is 11,453, out of which the number of international students is 1,511, and the total number of academic staff is 228. The international staff is 35. The degree awarded to undergraduate students is 1,068, master's degrees awarded is 982, and the number of doctoral degrees awarded is 175. As per the records, the new undergraduate admissions are 1,921, the new master admissions are 1,130 and the new doctoral admissions are 176.
