Scholarships are a boon for students who are unable to pursue higher studies due to various reasons. Keeping this in mind, the Government of India took an initiative in 2006 to help meritorious students from minority communities. The program is called the PMS Scholarship and the goal is to provide deserving minority students from economically disadvantaged areas to help them get access to higher education, increase their rate of completion of higher education, and improve their employability. PMS Scholarship: Overview

Its concept as a Post-Matric Scholarship denotes that it is a Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India, program. Students who fall within the minority group in India can avail this scholarship. The National Scholarship Portal (NSP) is accepting online applications from minority community students.

PMS Scholarship Award Details

Here are the award details for PMS Scholarship by the Government of India:

  • 5500 scholarships are given out each year under this scholarship scheme
  • The monthly scholarship amount is Rs.2,500/- per month for boys and Rs.3,000/- per month for girls

Only students who meet the eligibility can apply for this scholarship. Check out the eligibility criteria for PMS Scholarship;

  • Candidates from minority groups, including boys and girls, are eligible to apply for this award.
  • Candidates must be citizens of India.
  • Students in the eleventh and twelfth grades as well as undergraduate, graduate, M.Phil., doctoral, and diploma students are eligible.
  • The candidate’s family should not make more than two lakhs a year from all sources.
  • Candidates must have obtained at least 50% on the prior test.

PMS Scholarship Application Process

Follow the mentioned steps to apply for this scholarship:

  • Visit the NSP website at scholarships.gov.in.
  • On the NSP homepage, click the “Ministry of Minority Affairs” link that displayed under “State Schemes.”
  • Pay close attention to the “Post Matric Scholarships Scheme for Minorities Guidelines.”
  • After that, select the “New Registration” link that showed up on the home page.
  • You will be taken to the page with instructions for the new student registration form. Click “Continue” after reading all of the registration instructions.
  • You will then be taken to the registration form for new students. Fill out the registration form with true and accurate information, including your name, phone number, and email address.
  • Type in your accurate bank information. Your mobile number provided during registering will receive an OTP.
  • Log in to NSP using your OTP.

 The following documents should be uploaded along with the application form.

  • Minority community certificate
  • Self- attested Passport size photo with signature
  • Permanent address proof
  • Students Bank Account proof
  • Aadhaar Card
  • Attested copies of mark sheets of previous exams
  • Institution Verification Form
  • Fee Receipt of current course year
  • Income declaration
  • Residential Certificate
  • Domicile certificate, if required.

PMS Scholarship Term & Conditions.

You must know the following terms and conditions before applying fo the scholarship: 

  • Only two children from the same household may get the award.
  • If any of the terms and conditions of the scholarship are broken, it may be cancelled.
  • If it is discovered that the pupils received a scholarship by using fake documentation, the scholarship will be revoked.
  • The rules are always subject to change by the Indian government.
  • Students who are 18 years old must have a community certificate that they self-certified.
  • Renewal applicants are not permitted to change schools or colleges while enrolled in an academic course.

PMS Scholarship Renewal 

Following the selection in the merit list, the First Installment of the scholarship will be paid. Students must submit an online renewal application at the end of each academic year until the course is finished in order to receive future payments.

  • The student can apply for renewal of scholarship within one year from declaration of result.
  • Processing of renewal application is done as and when received throughout the year except from Jan to May. 

Process of Renewal

  • Use the username and password that you created when you applied for the PMS Scholarship.
  • After successfully logging in, go to “PMS scholarship and then “Renewal Application.” 
  • Fill out all of the required information and upload scanned copies of all required original documents
