What is OIC Full Form?

The OIC full form is the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and it is the second largest after the United Nations. The organization was established in 1996 with its headquarters in Jeddah. The OIC consists of the membership of 57 states spread across more than four continents. The organization was established on 25 September 1969 on the basis of a decision of the historical summit that happened in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco on 12 Rajab 1389 Hijra after the criminal arson of Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem.

What are the Objectives of OIC?

The following are the objectives of the OIC:

• The organisation strive to become a collective voice of Muslims from all over the world 
• OIC also aims to represent the Muslim community in the world to protect and safeguard the vital interest of the Muslim community in the spirit of promoting security and harmony, international peace and inter-faith dialogue with the diverse population of the world
• OIC also has taken steps to safeguard the true values of Islam and Muslims and remove misconceptions and abolish discrimination against the Muslim community in any form and manifestations 
• Another objective of OIC is to work in tandem with the UN and other inter-governmental organization to protect the vital interests of Muslims and to resolve any disputes and conflicts between the member states

What are the Key Bodies of OIC?

The integral key bodies of the OIC are The Islamic Summit, The Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM), The General Secretariat and also in addition to the Al-Quds Committee, the other three permanent committees which are concerned with science and technology, information and culture, and economy and trade. There are also specialised functioning bodies under the umbrella of OIC such as the Islamic Development Bank and the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization along with the subsidiary and affiliate functioning bodies that play an integral part to boost cooperation in many fields among the member states.
