UCAS Launches Mobile App for International Students

The Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) has recently taken an important step towards simplifying the application process to UK universities by creating a multi-language mobile application. This will help postgraduate students from diverse countries to access and be updated about the programs and deadlines. Further, it will also simplify the application process for different programs and providing easy access for students around the world. Referred to as MO University Assistant App, the UCAS Mobile Application aims to assist more than 15,000 students aspiring to study postgraduate programs in the UK.

The founder of MO, Myles Jardine said to Erudera College News that with UCAS credibility, expertise, and connections, MO could quickly establish as an application platform which will support students in their journey to UK higher education as well as assist UK universities in attracting more students from the whole world. On the launch of the UCAS mobile app, Jardine further added, “Everything we’ve done at MO has been about enhancing the support students have when making that life-changing decision to go to higher education in the UK. That’s why we are so excited by this acquisition by UCAS, as it is an organization that has the same focus and passion for students that we have.”

The new MO Board which will operate as a commercial enterprise completely owned by UCAS will be led by Mark Felix, the Commercial Director at MoneySupermarket Group.

Importance of UCAS

Felix stated that there has been intense competition among countries that wish to recruit international students and many countries follow the United Kingdom. The role of UCAS becomes important as it can help in increasing the attraction of students overseas, making the UK the most desired places for education. 

“The UK is home to the world’s very best research, technical, and teaching universities, and international students bring not only £12 billion into our economy, but also provide immense social and cultural benefits,” he said.

The scholarship search platform MO was launched 3 years ago but has managed to provide the main procedure and instruction in 15 languages. Students get personalized support, link to postgraduate programs, several direct applications and guidelines, profiles of universities and colleges across the United Kingdom, accommodation details, and employment features.

Despite the travel bans owing to COVID-19, UCAS has issued figures that indicate the increase in the number of international admissions at British universities. These numbers state that international students who are admitted at UK universities for their first year this autumn have reached 44,300 students.
