Free Online Course on Machine Learning by ISRO

Indian Space Research Organization or ISRO  has come up with a free online course called Machine Learning to Deep Learning that can be completed in mere five days only. The online course is called “Machine learning to Deep Learning: A Journey for Remote Sensing Data Classification”. All the participants will receive a certificate as well. The Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) is connected with ISRO as one of its outreach programs and will help them to conduct this online course for free. Dr. Poonam S Tiwari, being a part of the IIRS DLP team, will conduct the conference.

Course Overview

The course will help to educate the participants about machine learning and algorithms to extract specific class-level information from multi-sensor temporal remote sensing data sets. Some topics that will come under this course are as follows:

• Remote sensing and the sensors of various resolutions
• Radiometry and geometric corrections and basic understanding of the image
• A journey of a basic classifier to machine learning
• Methods in machine learning: Supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement
• Fuzzy-based machine learning with application in the temporal data processing
• Network-based learning algorithms: ANN to CNN or RNN

Eligibility

The course is open to everyone who understands the basic concepts of remote sensing and geographic information systems. It will be extremely beneficial for professionals who are already engaged in remote sensing data processing and are interested in a specific class to learn fuzzy machine or deep learning concepts.

Registration Process

Interested participants need to register on the IIRS website, and details regarding the same will be issued soon. Participants can attend either through e – class portal or also attend the live workshop via the YouTube channel of IIRS. The content of the course will also be available offline after 24 hours in the e-class portal.

Certification

A compulsory 70% attendance in sessions of the course live through e – class portal is important to get a certificate. The participants who will attend the course sessions through the IIRS YouTube channel will have to mark their attendance via offline sessions available after 24 hours.
