How to Check if Your Institution is on the Approved List?

To check that your institution is on the Approved list, you must follow the steps below:

Step 1: You are first required to go to the government’s official Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website.

Step 2: You are then required to choose the province or territory in which the university or college you plan to opt for is located.

Step 3: You must enter the name of the university/college, city, and all relevant information in the search box available on the website.

Step 4: After completing the above steps, you must write down the DLI number in the given area under “Details of Intention to Study in Canada” on your study permit application.

You are suggested that Canadian institutions with numerous campuses or colleges have a unique DLI number available on the site. When searching, you must enter the exact location.

How to Change the DLI Number?

When you are transferring from one institution to another institution, you are required to notify IRCC first. For convenience, you are also required to have the following documents in hand before the process of DLI number change:

• Acceptance letter from the previous DLI institution.
• A copy of your study permit.
• Acceptance letter and DLI number from the institution you wish to transfer.

The steps for changing the DLI number are given below:

1. First, you must Log into your MyCIC account.
2. To transfer your school, you must click on the “Start an application” link and select “Students: Transfer Schools.”
3. Then you have to enter the application number in the Start on application box.
4. After the completion of the above steps, you will be sent to the “Tell us about your application” page, where you are required to fill in all the necessary information and click the “Continue” button.
5. Then, you have to click the “Search for my application” option and enter the DLI number of the new institution.
6. You must click “Submit transfer,” and you’re all set.
