About DE Shaw Fellowship

Since 2016, the DE Shaw Fellowship has supported cooperation programmes for students interested in learning from diverse, talented pioneers at the pinnacle of their disciplines.

The fellowship teaches that a diverse, unbiased, and complete workplace fosters creativity, usefulness, and, ultimately, execution. Throughout three days, intellectually curious students participate in particular instructional freedoms that allow them to be open to what we do at the DE Shaw fellowship. Colleagues participate in thoughtful contextual studies, courses led by visiting instructors, and discussions with our examiners.

List of Fellowships

Candidates with a scholastic history, a track record of accomplishment, and a positive attitude in the confluence of economic systems are encouraged to apply. There is no prior financial experience required.

Eligibility: Available to women who would also commence their junior year of a full-time undergraduate programme at a university or institution in the United States in the autumn of 2021.

Latitude

The application period for 2021 is now closed.

Eligibility: Students who will begin their freshman year of a filled undergraduate programme at a U.S. university or college in autumn 2021 and personality as American Indian or Pacific Islander, Black, African American, Hispanic or Latino, or Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander are eligible.

Momentum

The application period for 2021 is now closed.

Eligibility: Available to candidates who will begin their junior year of a full-time undergraduate programme at a U.S. college or institution in the autumn of 2021 who self-identify as LGBTQ+.

Nexus

The application period for 2021 is now closed.

Eligibility: Available to students entering their sophomore year of a full-time undergraduate degree at a university or institution in the United States in autumn 2021.

Zenith

The application period for 2021 is now closed.

Eligibility: Available to women in STEM disciplines who will begin their sophomore year of a full-time undergraduate programme at a U.S. institution or university in autumn 2021, or who are already accepted in a full-time PhD programme.

How to Apply for DE Shaw Fellowship?

We welcome self-nominations from qualifying individuals as well as nominations from college or university professors or administrators for open fellowships. Please send all entries to [email protected] with the fellowship name in the subject line and the following information:

  • A resumé or CV detailing the candidate’s GPA, course of studies, and any achievements or honours.
  • An unofficial transcript

One of the written statements is listed below:

  • A self-nomination: Describe your interest in the opportunity or what makes you an attractive candidate in 150 words or fewer.
  • A faculty recommendation: Explain the reasons you believe the candidate must be selected for the fellowship

A scholarly recommendation: The recommender must summarise the student’s credentials for the fellowship in 150 words or fewer. Referrals can be sent independently from the remainder of the application form; in this instance, the recommender should email the declaration to [email protected] with the student’s full name and the title of the fellowship in the headline.

How will fellows be chosen?

The candidate’s CV, unofficial transcript, and self-nomination or recommendation will be used to make decisions. We won’t be doing any interviews.

Can I get academic credit for taking part?

No. Fellowships at the D. E. Shaw groups do not qualify for academic credit.

I know nothing about finance. Is it still possible to apply?

Definitely! Fellowships at the D. E. Shaw groups are available to students from many academic fields, including those with no prior experience in finance.

Do I have to be in a specific school year?

Yes. Please review each fellowship’s qualifying conditions.

Can I apply for more than one fellowship?

Yes. Feel free to apply for numerous fellowships as long as you fulfil the qualifying conditions. Accepted applicants may only apply for one D. E. Shaw group fellowship.
