The NCERT Class 8 SST syllabus is divided into three parts Geography, History and Civics. These three disciplines are also usually included under the syllabus of various competitive exams like UPSC, IPS, Public Service Commission, amongst others. List of Chapters in Class 8 SST Syllabus

Social Studies or SST majorly deals with three sub-disciplines, i.e. Civics (Political Science), Geography and History. In class 8 SST, students are familiarised with the world history as well as political systems and geographical concepts and basics which are then detailed in the next grade. Let’s first take a look at the syllabus for each of these three subjects under Social Studies:

History

In Class 8 SST, History mainly deals with the historical past of modern India. From the origins of the country to the crucial freedom struggle that ensued after the revolt of 1857. Here is a list of chapters in this subject:

Geography

Geography mainly discusses the natural resources, their types, uses and availability in terms of the Indian perspective. It is also a significant section in government exams and studying Geography for UPSC might seem a complicated task if you are not aware of the basic topics that were included in this discipline during class 8th and 9th.
