Beth Mead Scholarship

Teesside University has teamed up with Arsenal’s Beth Mead to launch The Beth Mead Scholarship, designed to support students who have the potential to become professional footballers within the women’s game. Beth Mead signed for Arsenal in 2017 from Sunderland and has become of the best players at the club. That talent is now being put to use off the pitch as well with the announcement of The Beth Mead Scholarship. This will include strength and conditioning, physiotherapy, sports nutrition, sport psychology, biomechanical analysis, and sport physiology from a team of experts at Teesside University.

Eligibility

• Be a national, international, and or professional female footballer who can contribute positively to sport at Teesside University through international-level sports performance.
• Successfully achieve a place on a course at Teesside University or be already studying here during the 2023 – 2024 academic year (all courses are eligible, both undergraduate and postgraduate).

Scholarship Details

The Beth Mead Scholarship is open to applicants and is designed to support dual-career students who could reach professional and even international levels within women’s football.

Four scholarships are now available for the 2023/24 academic year and successful applicants will receive a bursary of £1,200 (INR 1.11 lacs) each in addition to sports science support. This includes strength and conditioning, physiotherapy, sports nutrition, sport psychology, biomechanical analysis, and sport physiology from experts at Teesside University. In addition, scholars will also receive one-to-one and group mentoring with Beth during their studies, as well as branded sports kits and gym memberships.

Beth is an active ambassador of the scholarship and will support scholars by mentoring them three times per year. Scholarship benefits include:

This support is available to athletes, subject to an application process, which is open to those who have the potential to develop and enhance the reputation of Teesside University through international-level sports performance.

How to Apply for the Beth Mead Scholarship? 

Applications are now open. To apply, you can visit Teeside University’s official website. The four scholarship places are given out on a first-come, first-serve basis to appropriate and eligible applicants. The final closing date and the latest you can apply by is 5.00 pm on 31 January 2023.

Selection Process of the Beth Mead Scholarship

Places are limited and will go to the strongest applicants and all offers are subject to enrolment on a course at Teesside University. Meeting the criteria does not guarantee you will receive a scholarship.

Who is Beth Mead?

Beth Mead is one of the prominent footballers from England. She rose to prominence after playing as a forward for the National team of Arsenal and England. Primarily, Mead plays as a forward and wears jersey number nine. Prior to joining her current club, Mead played for Sunderland between 2011 and 2017. Similarly, Mead represented England in all the under-15 age groups. On May 9, 1995, Beth Mead was born in Whitby, England. And, currently, she is 24 years old and belongs to the nationality of British. She was born into the ancestry of Anglo-Scottish. The name of her mother is June Mead, and she also has a younger brother named Ben Mead. She had finished her graduation with a degree in sports development from Teesside University in Middlesbrough, located in Teesside.
