Why do Students Choose Tier 2 and Tier 3 Universities?

Most of the students choose Tier 2 and Tier 3  best universities for studying abroad for the following reasons. 

  • The second and third-tier colleges are easy to get into compared to tier-1 universities like Harvard, Stanford, MIT, and California Institute of Technology.
  • Tier 1 universities have an admission acceptance rate of just 7%. 
  • Another reason is that these universities are relatively less expensive and provide respectable placement alternatives after completing the degree.

The Difference Between Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 Universities 

The Tier 1 Universities in the world are Universities that have excellent research faculties. A University has to be highly focused on research, come under the best 2.5 percent of higher education institutes, and should have grants and contracts of at least 100 million dollars to be categorized as a Tier 1 University. Moreover, these universities need to award more than 200 doctorate degrees, have high research staff, and have graduation rates. 

Tier 2 institutions are not as well-known as Tier 1 colleges, but that doesn’t imply that talented students can’t attend them. Nevertheless, they provide excellent academic research, faculty, placements, and an Alumni network. These Universities are highly competitive to get into but less competitive than Tier 1 Universities. Popular Tier 2 Universities in the USA include Boston University and Washington University in St.Louis.

Tier 3 universities are comparatively less competitive to get in. They have more seats and fewer applicants. They offer decent research faculty, a good academic structure, placements, and an Alumni network.
