About the University

History, Affiliations and Rankings

The University of West London in the UK traces its history to 1860 when the Lady Byron School was established in what's now the University of West London's Ealing campus. It, later on, became the Ealing College of Higher Education. The Polytechnic of West London was formed in 1991 when Ealing College of Higher Education, Thames Valley College of Higher Education, Queen Charlotte's College of Health Care Studies, and the London College of Music combined. Under the Further and Higher Education Act 1992, the polytechnic became a university two years later. The Privy Council granted authority for the university to change its name to the University of West London in August 2010, after which it was announced that the university would change its name to the University of West London. The university is known for its good employment rate with a wide variety of courses available in different fields of study for both national and international students. The Complete University Guide, the Guardian University League Table, and The Sunday Times Good University Guide all rank the university at #94, #35, and #52 for 2022, respectively.
