Overview Our Shelter after Disaster course provides you with the knowledge to understand and discuss the essential components of shelter response after a disaster. Safe shelter is a critical need immediately after a natural disaster. This course aims to develop reflective practitioners who can combine: understanding of practical strategic issues of development and emergency practice an appreciation of the wider political context in which they operate. You will learn about development and humanitarian practice. AS well as the role of the practitioner intervening in post disaster reconstruction. Overview Our MSc/PGDip/PGCert Conservation Ecology course develops the professional and field skills, including identification and survey techniques required for effective conservation. It will familiarise you with the key ecological concepts underlying evidence-based conservation. You will produce professional reports and assessments. Overview Our MRes in Primatology and Conservation is a research-intensive course. It combines the expertise of anthropologists and biologists. You will develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to help stop and reverse the devastating destruction of natural habitats. And the loss of the species that live in them. Our Midwifery BSc was reapproved (2020) by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and accredited as Baby Friendly by UNICEF.  Midwives care for women and their families throughout pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. They have an important role in promoting health and wellbeing. They are experts in, and the lead professionals for, women experiencing normal childbirth. They also provide and coordinate care, in partnership with other professionals, for women who have more complex needs.needs. Our new course prepare students for all aspects of midwifery and has a focus on public health and physiology. Our small cohorts mean you'll receive optimum support from the midwifery teaching team. On placement you will be supervised and assessed by experienced midwives. Oxfordshire offers excellent graduate employment opportunities. This Foundation Year in Mathematics will give you the skills and knowledge required to progress onto an undergraduate degree in Mathematics, such as our BSc Mathematics course.  This course will start with a thorough revision of GCSE and A-level Mathematics and will continue with an introduction to university mathematics. Furthermore, you will learn transferable skills that are key for undergraduate studies in Mathematics such as coding or data analysis. Our Paramedic Science course gives you the skills you need to work as a paramedic. Paramedics are registered Allied Health Professionals (AHPs). They care for patients with various healthcare needs in out of hospital settings. To prepare you for this role, you’ll learn to assess and manage patients with almost any injury and illness. You’ll experience over 2000 hours in clinical practice learning in diverse clinical settings, such as; Ambulance placements Emergency Departments Surgical Decisions Units End of Life Care Airway Management Mental Health Assessment and Management Paediatric specialist facilities. Our excellent teaching facilities include; dedicated specialist clinical skills suites extensive range of simulation resources/equipment. We have developed the course in consultation and partnership with healthcare providers including South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust.  Our friendly teaching team have extensive Paramedic experience. This top-up year is for people with a higher diploma in an I.T. subject. By studying this course, you will graduate with a BSc in Computing awarded by Oxford Brookes University. And strong links with the automotive industry with research in electric vehicles. Our Nutrition degree examines issues such as: healthy eating eating disorders politics of food and food production food poisoning organic foods the use of food additives. Regular nutrition seminars keep you up to date in the latest developments. And the Nutrition Society, our student-led group, organises relevant guest speakers and activities. We are home to the Oxford Brookes Centre for Nutrition and Health (OxBCNH) which was set up to research the role of foods in preventing chronic disease. This allows our researchers and PhD students to inform our undergraduate teaching and provides our students with a strong research ethos. As more nutrition-related issues feature in the media, government initiatives stress the importance of improving our diet and fitness levels. This creates job opportunities for graduates who understand the science and other issues around food. Our Computer Science for Cyber Security degree helps you develop your practical expertise. Occupational therapy (OT) involves enhancing the daily lives of people with a broad range of physical, mental health and social needs. As an occupational therapist you will work with people of all ages, to improve their wellbeing and quality of life.
