DAAD also offers internship programs for students from different countries and backgrounds. Eligibility & Requirements

The eligibility criteria are simple but competitive to achieve. You must go through the criteria carefully before applying. 

  • You need to be a student or alumni of a North American, British or Irish university.
  • The requirement for a degree such as an undergraduate, postgraduate or doctoral program depends upon the DAAD internship program chosen by the students. 
  • The student must be enrolled in a course in the field of biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, earth sciences or physics.
  • If your degree is over, you can still apply for an internship at DAAD within 7 months of completion. DAAD
  • International students applying for the internship program must have been in the country for 12 months before applying for the DAAD internship.

The application procedure is not very elaborate. Candidates can note the following steps mentioned below to apply for the DAAD internship. 

  • Go to the DAAD official website and look for the internship page.
  • Proceed to the RISE internship section and click the internship type. 
  • Go to the ‘How to Apply’ section and click on the application portal. 
  • Register yourself on the DAAD portal and log in to start your application. 
  • Fill in the form and attach all necessary documents. 
  • Review and submit your application. 
  • You can apply for up to three internships at a time.

Application Deadlines and Conditions

The application for DAAD internships is open between 15 October 2023 to 6 December 2023 (extended). After registering you will have access to internships posted by companies and organisations to which you can apply. 

Also, the minimum salary for the internship is €12. All the students who are enrolled in universities can apply for internships that do not offer the minimum stipend as well. Provided the internship is not more than 3 months in duration. Recent graduates, however, cannot apply for such internships. 

Moreover, you can apply for up to three internships at once and complete your application completely online. The deadline for the internship means that you also have to submit all required documents by then. The decision on your application will be declared by the end of February 2024.
