Article 1(1) of the Indian Constitution defines the character and name of the country. In the English version, it says, “India, that is Bharat, shall be a Union of States,” which emphasizes India as the name.

In the Hindi version, it states “Bharat Artharth India, Rajyon ka sangh hoga,” with “Bharat” as the country’s name. Thus, the question of will the name be changed does not arise, as both the names i. e India and Bharat are used interchangeably in the context of the country.
