SEBI Grade A exam is conducted by the Securities and Exchange Board of India [SEBI] every year. Through this test, candidates are recruited for the post of Assistant Manager [Grade A]. The notification for the Legal, General, Engineering, Research, Information Technology, and Official Language stream will be released by the statutory body shortly. SEBI Grade A

A candidate planning to give SEBI Grade A exam should stay updated with the important dates in order to avoid missing any deadline. The dates related to this exam will be disclosed in the official notification released by SEBI.

Eligibility Criteria

Even though the eligibility criteria vary since there are many streams, the age requirements remain the same. Enlisted are detailed prerequisites that a candidate needs to fulfil in order to appear for the SEBI Grade A exam: 

  • Further, there is certain age relaxation for specific categories. While for SC/ST, it is 5 years, for OBC, it is 3 years.
  • For the domicile residents of J&K [ between 1st January 1980 to 31st December 1981] and ex-servicemen, the relaxation is of 5 years. 
  • For PwBD, the relaxation is 10 years[General Category], 13 [OBC], and 15 years [SC/ST].

SEBI Grade A Exam: Exam Procedure

SEBI Grade A

The most important aspect that should be taken into consideration before applying for the SEBI Grade A exam is to study the pattern and syllabus. This exam is conducted in 3 phases wherein Phases 1 & 2 are objective in nature. Phase 3, on the other hand, is the interview round.

Exam Pattern

Both phase 1 & phase 2 papers of the SEBI Grade A exam will be conducted online. In phase 1, there will be 2 papers. While Paper 1 is common for all the streams, Paper 2 depends on the stream you choose. Another important thing to note is that all the questions will be available in English and Hindi languages except the test of English.

Phase 2

The candidates who qualified the Phase 1 would advance to the Phase 2 online examination. The pattern for this year’s Phase 2 has also changed. Like Phase 1, there will be 2 papers in the second phase of the SEBI Grade A test. Paper 1 is common for all the streams whereas Paper 2 will be different, as per the streams.

Phase 3: Interview Round

Only the final shortlisted candidates would be called for the interview round. The candidate can also choose the mode of interview i.e. English or Hindi. What is important to note is that the final merit list will depend on the marks obtained in Phase 2 and the interview round. While Phase 2 will carry 85% of the weightage, the Interview round will carry the remaining 15%.

Phase II- Mains Paper 

The syllabus for paper 1 of Phase II will revolve around the basic level of English as it aims to gauge your skills about the same. On the other hand, paper 2 will have a different syllabus as per the stream you opt for.

Marking Scheme

Phase 11 mark will be awarded for every correct answer
Phase 22 marks will be awarded for every correct answer
Incorrect Answer [Both Phases]1/4th of the marks will be deducted i.e.

For 1 mark questions, 0.25 will be deducted and for questions carrying 2 marks, 0.50 will be deducted

  • Click on the link directed to the recruitment notification for SEBI.
  • Now click on the option of apply online.
  • enter your basic details such as name contact number and email address to generate a new registration.
  • Submit your details and your system will generate a registration number and password that will be sent to you on your email id and mobile number.
  • Fill in the application form carefully and click on the button for the final submission.
  • Save the application form once it is submitted and then attach the required documents.
  • In the next step, you will be asked to complete the process by making the due payment.

SEBI Grade A Salary

The successful candidates will be on a two-year probation period on the job. According to their work ethic and other necessary parameters, the candidates would become permanent in the job. The pay scale of officers in SEBI Grade A can range from Rs. 28,000 – Rs.55,000, depending on the years of service.

The difficulty level of the SEBI Grade A exam is moderate. However, with a good amount of preparation, an applicant can easily crack this exam.

How many attempts are there for SEBI Grade A?

There is no limit set on the number of attempts that an applicant can give for SEBI Grade A exam.

Is SEBI Grade A government job?

SEBI comes under the ambit of the Ministry of Finance and therefore, Grade A post in this organisation is a government job.
