International Students in UK to Get COVID-19 Vaccine

The Minister of Universities, Michelle Donelan said that foreign students residing in the UK will be able to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine will be available at no extra cost to those enrolled at a UK university. The vaccine will be administered in order of age and vulnerability to the majority of the public, including those who are particularly susceptible, to priority categories, including care home residents and employees, people over 80 and health and care staff.

According to the recent Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) research, almost a quarter of International Students are considering pursuing their Study Abroad plans amid the recent COVID-19 Vaccine news.

Michelle Donelan’s Statement on International Students in UK Getting the COVID-19 Vaccine

The UK government has consistently conveyed its commitment to helping international students, meaning that when the vaccine is distributed and delivered, they will not be ignored. 

Minister of Universities, Michelle Donelan conveyed the nation’s appreciation to them in an open letter to the students, thanking everyone for their diligence. 

She said, “We are pleased that you have decided to study with us and look forward to having even more of you in future years to our world-class universities”. 

I understand that international students may have additional questions as we approach the end of the 2020/21 autumn academic term. Whether you are currently at your chosen university, are studying remotely from your home country, or plan to study here in the future, I am writing to you directly to provide you with support and guidance at this challenging time.” she wrote in the letter. 

“We are committed to prioritising education and want to enable all students – domestic and international, current and prospective – that they can return to, or start new courses at our universities and will be able to engage in blended learning as soon as possible,” says Michelle Donelan.
