He was responsible for the development of the dominant Chrome web browser. He received his Bachelor of Engineering in Metallurgical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur. He received his MS from Stanford University and his MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. He was also awarded a Siebel Scholar and a Palmer Scholar. In our list of famous IITians, next is N. R. Narayana Murthy. A  legend in his own right. He is the co-founder and former chairman of Infosys, one of India’s largest technology companies. Narayana Murthy studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Mysore’s National Institute of Engineering. He was then accepted and finished his M.Tech. at IIT Kanpur (Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur). In 1981, he co-founded Infosys, a multinational corporation that provides services like business consulting, business technology, and engineering. Murthy was also honored with India’s highest honor, the Padma Shri, in the year 2000.

Raghuram Govind Rajan is among the list of famous IITians making Indians proud. Mr. Rajan, the Katherine Dusak Miller Distinguished Service Professor of Finance at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, is an Indian economist. Between September 2013 to September 2016, he served as the Reserve Bank of India’s 23rd Governor. Rajan served as the International Monetary Fund’s Chief Economist and Director of Research from 2003 to 2006. During his time as Vice-Chairman of the Bank for International Settlements, he also became Vice-Chairman of the Indian Reserve Bank in 2015. In 1981, he enrolled at the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi to pursue a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He received the Director’s Gold Medal as the best all-around student when he graduated in 1985.

One of a Kind CM, Manohar Parrikar

Manohar Gopalkrishna Prabhu Parrikar was the Chief Minister of Goa in 2017. He was an Indian politician from the Bharatiya Janata Party. From 2000 to 2005, and again from 2012 to 2014, he served as Chief Minister of Goa. From 2014 to 2017, Parrikar served as India’s Defense Minister in the BJP government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He is the first IIT graduate to lead an Indian state as Chief Minister. Deepinder Goyal, Founder of Zomato

Deepinder Goyal is Zomato’s founder and CEO. Deepinder worked as a management consultant for Bain and Company in New Delhi before founding Zomato. After witnessing a demand for menu cards among his colleagues at Bain, Deepinder came up with the idea for an online restaurant information service. He left Bain in 2008 to create Zomato (then foodiebay) from his flat, and he has been in charge of strategy and product development ever since. The Chairman of India’s Unique Identification Authority was Nandan Nilekani (UIDAI). Nilekani was one of Infosys’ founders in 1981, and he became the company’s chief executive officer in March 2002, serving as CEO until April 2007. Nilekani joined the Indian National Congress in March 2014 and ran for the Bangalore South constituency in the 2014 Lok Sabha election, losing 28,575 votes against BJP candidate Ananth Kumar.
