Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for obstetrics courses vary based on the university. To become an obstetrician a student is required to complete B.A, M.A, and P.H.D in that discipline. Another way is to study obstetrics as a specialization in the Master’s field. However, for this, the student needs to have a qualified Bachelor’s degree from a university recognized by the Medical Council of India. That too is in a relevant course like MBBS. Interested students must have secured 50% marks in each paper to be qualified for merit-based admission.

  • MBBS – The MBBS courses are for  5 and a half years and can be pursued by students after completing their 12th.

  • DM in Gynecology and obstetrics – This course can be taken up by students who have completed their Master’s in a similar field like MS in Gynecology and Obstetrics.

Abroad

Several subspecialties are recognized by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). Certifications exams are administered by the ABOG for the same.
