HIV, the causative agent of AIDS can be transmitted through the exchange of body fluids like blood, vaginal fluids, or semen. Therefore AIDS/HIV can be transmitted through a lactating mother to babies, through sexual intercourse, using syringes or any other medical tool, and through contaminated blood transfusion

After the entry of the HIV Virus into the body it keeps on dividing leading to difficulty in preventing the progression of the disease. The virus multiplies and attacks the immune system of the body and deteriorates the ability of the body to fight against infection.

Preventive Measures of AIDS/HIV

As per the medical history, there is no cure for AIDS/HIV but it can be treated with the help of medication and proper care. 

Here are some preventive measures for AIDS/HIV:

  1. Use protection during sex.
  2. Avoid using used needles.
  3. Book a slot for HIV or Sexually Transmitted Infections.
  4. Consider an HIV test during pregnancy to make sure that if you are infected then the disease does not get transmitted to the foetus.
  5. Avoid misusing any drugs and alcohol. If you are on medication, then follow the prescription carefully.
